Documentation: Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Most issues come from a key, a switch or a missing first sync. Start with the symptom you see.
Troubleshooting
The most common problems and what to check first.
Test fails when I save an exchange key
- Copy the key and the secret again in full, without spaces. OKX and BloFin also need the passphrase you chose when creating the key.
- Check the Base URL: OKX accounts registered in the EEA/EU need
https://eea.okx.com. - On OKX, Demo trading keys must be on only for keys created in Demo Trading.
- On Binance use a system-generated (HMAC) key; futures also need Enable Futures.
- The key needs read permission.
The card says “Sync failing — check your API key”
The nightly sync could not use the key. It may have been revoked, expired or changed on the exchange. Create a new key, save it in Config and press Sync all trades.
The journal or dashboard is empty
Press Sync all trades on the exchange card and wait for it to finish. Only USDT and USDC futures are imported, Binance provides about three months of history, and an exchange switched off in Config is left out.
No positions on the Trade page
Check that the exchange is switched on, the key is saved and the account really has an open USDT or USDC perpetual position. A Binance account without futures works as Spot only.
No Telegram messages
Press Start at @BitMeAlertsBot, check the Chat ID, press Test in Config, and make sure the bot switch and the alert group you expect are on at the Alerts page. A red status dot means the bot is offline or switched off.
I do not see the ✕ button or cannot drag TP and SL
These need a Write key on the exchange card and Manage Positions on, which requires two-factor authentication.
The balance on the Assets page differs from my exchange
Each exchange values its own holdings, and the funding wallet is priced with Binance market prices, so small differences are normal. A currency that cannot be priced is marked "+N unpriced" and is not added to the total. An exchange you switched off in Config is left out. Press Refresh in the menu to update the figures.
A trade shows the wrong duration
A trade that has just closed shows an approximate duration until the next sync. Press Sync all trades on the exchange card to get the exact open time.
The liquidation chart is shorter than the range I selected
BitMe records the live liquidation feeds itself, so the chart covers the last 24 hours of what was recorded and never more. The caption above the chart shows the exact range.
I lost my authenticator app
Sign in with one of the eight single-use recovery codes that were shown when you turned on two-factor authentication. If you use a passkey, it signs you in without a code. See Two-factor authentication.
I forgot my password
Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page; we email you a reset link. See Password reset.
Alerts come too often or too rarely
Each alert has its own threshold, step and repeat interval. Raise the repeat interval to reduce repeats, or widen the threshold and step. See Telegram and alerts.
Still stuck
Send a ticket from the speech-bubble icon in the header; the page you were on is attached automatically.

Is an API key safe?
It can be, if you give the key the least permission that does the job and the tool stores it properly. Here is what to check before you paste a key anywhere, and how BitMe handles each point.
Liquidation & stop-loss alerts
The classic futures mistakes are quiet ones: a position opened without a stop-loss, a leveraged loss that keeps growing while you are away, a margin buffer that shrinks unnoticed. BitMe watches for exactly these and messages you on Telegram before they turn into a liquidation.
Bybit position monitor
BitMe connects to your Bybit account with a read-only API key and watches your open futures positions around the clock, so a sharp move, a missing stop-loss or a shrinking margin buffer reaches you on Telegram even when you are away from the screen.
