Documentation: Getting started
Getting started
BitMe monitors your futures positions and journals your trades from read-only API keys. This page takes you from nothing to a working setup.
What BitMe does
BitMe watches your crypto futures positions around the clock and keeps an automatic journal of your trades, across Binance, Bybit, OKX and BloFin.
BitMe connects to your exchange accounts with API keys that can only read. From that data it gives you:
- Alerts on Telegram. Your open positions are checked every few seconds on our server, so nothing has to stay open in your browser. You get a message when profit or loss crosses your thresholds, when a position has no stop-loss or take-profit (or only a partial one), when the price gets close to a position's liquidation price, when price comes near one of your limit orders, and when BitMe itself cannot reach an exchange. Alerts only inform you; they never close or change a position.
- A trade journal that fills itself. Closed futures trades are imported automatically. You get the equity curve, win rate, profit factor, drawdown, a P&L calendar and results by coin and by long versus short.
- One view of every exchange. Positions, equity, balances and results from all connected exchanges are combined, and the Assets page breaks balances down by exchange and currency.
- Market reports. Funding rate, open interest, long/short ratio, liquidations and more, built from public market data.
Optionally you can also manage positions from BitMe: close a position, cancel an order or move take-profit and stop-loss from the chart. That needs a separate key with trade permission and two-factor authentication on your account, and monitoring never depends on it.
To look around without connecting anything, open the read-only demo, which comes with a year of sample trades:
Set up in four steps
Create an account, connect one exchange with a read-only key, link Telegram and let the first sync finish. It takes a few minutes.
- Create an account. Register with your email and a password of at least 8 characters, accept the Terms and the Privacy Policy, then confirm your email with the link we send you. BitMe is free during the beta period.
- Connect an exchange. On the exchange, create an API key with read-only permission and leave withdrawals off. In BitMe open Config, pick the exchange, paste the key and secret, press Save and then Test. Details for each exchange are in Config.
- Link Telegram. Press Start at @BitMeAlertsBot, find your Chat ID by messaging @userinfobot, enter it in Config → Telegram and press Test. Then make sure the bot switch on the Alerts page is on. See Telegram setup and Alerts.
- Import your history. On the exchange card press Sync all trades. It runs in the background, so you can leave the page. When it finishes, the dashboard and the journal fill with your trades.
Prefer a walkthrough for your exchange? See the guides for Bybit, OKX, BloFin and Binance.
When your data appears
Positions and balances show up shortly after you save a key; trade history arrives with the first sync and is then kept up to date every night.
- Open positions and balances appear on the Trade page and in the equity figure in the header once the key is saved. They refresh automatically.
- Trade history comes from Sync all trades on the exchange card. The first import goes as far back as the exchange allows: up to two years on Bybit and about three months on Binance. It runs in the background.
- Nightly sync. New trades are added automatically every night at 02:00. You can also press Sync all trades at any time; it is safe to repeat, because existing trades are updated and never duplicated.
- A trade that has just closed can show an approximate duration until the next sync. Press Sync all trades after closing a position to get the exact open time.
- Status on each card. Trades in DB shows how many trades are stored, and Nightly sync shows Synced, Sync failing — check your API key, or Not synced yet.
BitMe covers USDT and USDC perpetual futures for positions, alerts and the journal. Coin-margined (inverse) contracts are not imported.
Is it safe?
BitMe only needs read access. It never asks for withdrawal permission, and your secret is stored encrypted and never shown again.
- Read-only keys cannot trade or withdraw. Monitoring, alerts, the journal and reports all work with a read-only key. BitMe does not hold your funds.
- Your secret is stored encrypted and is not displayed again after you save it. To keep the current value leave the field blank; to replace it, type a new one.
- You stay in control. Turn an exchange off with its switch, or delete the key in Config and revoke it on the exchange, whenever you like.
- Trading is opt-in and protected. Closing positions from BitMe needs a separate key with trade permission and two-factor authentication on your account. Never enable withdrawals on any key.
- Alerts only inform. They never close or change a position.

Bybit position monitor
BitMe connects to your Bybit account with a read-only API key and watches your open futures positions around the clock, so a sharp move, a missing stop-loss or a shrinking margin buffer reaches you on Telegram even when you are away from the screen.
Multi-exchange position tracker
Trading on more than one exchange usually means several apps, several tabs and no single answer to “how much am I exposed, and how am I doing?”. BitMe connects Binance, Bybit, OKX and BloFin through read-only API keys and brings positions, equity, balances and results into one account.
Is an API key safe?
It can be, if you give the key the least permission that does the job and the tool stores it properly. Here is what to check before you paste a key anywhere, and how BitMe handles each point.
