Documentation: Config
Config
BitMe reads your positions, balances and trades through API keys that you create on each exchange. Use read-only keys; withdrawal permission is never needed. Every exchange has its own card in Config, and Telegram is set up there too.
How connecting works
Every exchange has its own card in Config. You paste a read-only API key, test it, save it and import your trade history.
At the top of Config pick the exchange by its icon. Each card contains:
- An on/off switch (top right). Turning an exchange off removes it from your equity, from automatic import, from open-position checks and from bot alerts. Trades that were already imported stay visible.
- A Read tab with the API key, the API secret (OKX and BloFin also ask for a passphrase), a Base URL and a short name.
- A Write tab for an optional second key that can trade, described below.
- Save, Test and Reset to defaults. Test checks your credentials without saving anything.
- Sync all trades, which imports your trade history, with a status line showing how many trades are stored and whether the nightly sync is healthy.
Good to know
- Your secret is stored encrypted and is never shown again after you save it. To keep the current value leave the field blank; to replace it, type the new one. The eye icon next to a field only reveals what you have just typed.
- The short name (up to 8 characters) labels the exchange in alerts and on position cards. Leave it blank to hide the label.
- The Base URL is pre-filled with the live endpoint. Change it only to use a demo or test environment, as described for each exchange below.
The optional Write tab
The Write tab takes a second API key that can trade. It is used to place limit orders for the Strategies Bot and, when you turn on Manage Positions, to close positions and cancel orders from the Trade page. Give it trade permission only, never withdrawal. Manage Positions requires two-factor authentication to be enabled on your BitMe account. Monitoring, alerts, the journal and reports never need this key.
Never enable withdrawals on any key. More on permissions and storage: is it safe to connect an exchange API key?
Bybit: API key and settings
Create a read-only API key on Bybit and paste it into the Bybit card in Config. USDT and USDC linear perpetual futures are covered, and spot balances appear in the portfolio view.
Create the key
In your Bybit account open API management and create a new key with read-only permission. Do not enable withdrawals. Copy the key and the secret while Bybit shows them.
Fill in the card
- API Key and API Secret — the credentials you just created.
- Base URL — leave the default for your live account. Use
https://api-testnet.bybit.comonly for the Bybit testnet. - Short name — an optional label of up to 8 characters shown in alerts and on position cards.
Press Save, then Test to confirm the credentials work.
Bybit: importing trade history
Press Sync all trades on the Bybit card to import your closed futures trades, up to two years back.
The import runs in the background, so you can leave the page. Each closed USDT or USDC futures position is imported with its open and close time, P&L and fees. For the open time BitMe also searches your Bybit order history, which makes the duration precise.
- Safe to repeat. Existing trades are updated, never duplicated.
- Nightly sync. New trades are added automatically every night at 02:00.
- A trade that has just closed can show an approximate duration, estimated from when the order was created. Press Sync all trades after closing a position to get the exact time.
OKX: API key and settings
Create a key with Read permission on OKX, choose the Base URL that matches your region, and paste the key, secret and passphrase into the OKX card.
Create the key
In OKX open Account → API and create a key with Read permission. OKX asks you to choose a passphrase for the key; you need it in BitMe. Leave withdrawals off.
Choose the Base URL
https://www.okx.com— global OKX.https://aws.okx.com— the same service served from AWS, with lower latency.https://eea.okx.com— required if your account is registered in the EEA/EU at my.okx.com.
Keys for OKX demo (paper) trading use the same URL; see the next section.
Fill in the rest
Enter the API Key, API Secret and Passphrase, and optionally a short name of up to 8 characters for alerts. Press Save, then Test.
Only USDT- and USDC-margined perpetual swaps are synced. Coin-margined (inverse) contracts are not supported.
OKX: demo trading keys
Turn on the Demo trading keys switch only if the key was created in OKX's Demo Trading mode.
OKX demo (paper) trading uses the same URL as live trading, unlike Bybit, which has a separate demo address. OKX tells the two apart only by an extra request header, which this switch adds. A demo key is a separate key pair that you create from the demo trading dashboard on OKX.
- Key created in OKX Demo Trading — switch on.
- Key from your live account — switch off.
Mixing them up makes authentication fail. The Read and Write tabs are configured independently, so you can, for example, read your real balance with a live Read key while testing order placement with a demo Write key.
OKX: importing trade history
Press Sync all trades on the OKX card to import every closed position that OKX makes available.
Only USDT- and USDC-settled positions are imported; coin-margined (inverse) contracts are skipped. The import runs in the background, so you can leave the page.
- Safe to repeat. Existing trades are updated, never duplicated.
- Nightly sync. New trades are added automatically every night at 02:00.
BloFin: API key and settings
Create a key with Read permission on BloFin and paste the key, secret and passphrase into the BloFin card.
Create the key
In BloFin open Account → API Management and create a key with Read permission. You choose a passphrase when you create it; you need it in BitMe. Leave withdrawals off.
Fill in the card
- API Key, API Secret and Passphrase — the credentials you created.
- Base URL — leave the default for live trading. Use
https://demo-trading-openapi.blofin.comfor paper trading. - Short name — an optional label of up to 8 characters shown in alerts and on position cards.
Press Save, then Test.
BloFin: importing trade history
Press Sync all trades on the BloFin card to import every closed position that BloFin makes available.
Only USDT- and USDC-settled positions are imported. BloFin provides both the open time and the close time of each position, so trade duration is accurate. The import runs in the background, so you can leave the page.
- Safe to repeat. Existing trades are updated, never duplicated.
- Nightly sync. New trades are added automatically every night at 02:00.
Binance: API key and settings
Create a system-generated (HMAC) key with Reading enabled, add Enable Futures for futures data, and paste it into the Binance card. USD-M futures and the Spot wallet are covered.
Create the key
In Binance open Account → API Management and create a system-generated (HMAC) key. Ed25519 and RSA self-generated keys are not supported.
- Reading is enough for Spot balances and trade history.
- For USD-M futures also enable Enable Futures on the key. Your account needs a futures account, and Binance does not offer futures everywhere. Without it BitMe works as Spot only: balances and trade history, but no futures positions, alerts or journal entries.
- Never enable withdrawals.
Choose the Base URL
https://fapi.binance.com— live USD-M futures (default).https://demo-fapi.binance.com— Binance Demo Trading.https://testnet.binancefuture.com— the old futures testnet.
What is covered
Positions, alerts and the journal cover USD-M futures with USDT and USDC contracts; the Spot wallet appears in balances and on the Assets page. COIN-M is not monitored.
Orders from the Strategies Bot
Binance cannot attach a stop-loss and take-profit to the entry order, so the Strategies Bot places them right after the entry fills, within about a minute. Until then the position has no stop.
Binance: importing trade history
Press Sync all trades on the Binance card to import your closed USD-M futures positions. Binance keeps only about three months of fills, so older history cannot be imported.
Binance has no list of closed positions, so BitMe rebuilds them from your fills. Only USDT- and USDC-settled contracts are imported. The import runs in the background, so you can leave the page.
- Safe to repeat. Existing trades are updated, never duplicated.
- Nightly sync. New trades are added automatically every night at 02:00.
- Fees paid in BNB are not converted, so they are left out of the fee total.
Telegram setup and the Alerts Bot
Press Start at @BitMeAlertsBot, enter your Chat ID in Config → Telegram, test it, and switch the bot on at the Alerts page.
- Open @BitMeAlertsBot in Telegram and press Start. Telegram does not deliver messages from a bot you have never started.
- Find your Chat ID: message @userinfobot on Telegram and copy the number it replies with.
- In BitMe open Config → Telegram, paste the Chat ID, press Save and then Test. A test message should arrive in your chat.
- Open the Alerts page and make sure the bot switch is on.
The Config page also mentions a second bot, @BitMeSignalsBot. It is used by Strategies only; you do not need it for alerts.
If no message arrives, check that you pressed Start at the bot and that the Chat ID has no extra characters.

Is an API key safe?
It can be, if you give the key the least permission that does the job and the tool stores it properly. Here is what to check before you paste a key anywhere, and how BitMe handles each point.
Bybit position monitor
BitMe connects to your Bybit account with a read-only API key and watches your open futures positions around the clock, so a sharp move, a missing stop-loss or a shrinking margin buffer reaches you on Telegram even when you are away from the screen.
OKX position monitor
BitMe watches your OKX futures positions around the clock with a read-only API key and messages you on Telegram when P&L, stop-loss coverage or margin risk needs your attention. It works with both the global and the EEA version of OKX.
